Someday I Wish Upon A Star

Once upon a time, there was a single young lady catching up with her lovely friend at a cafe in Jakarta. They were busily gossiping about everything until suddenly the topic was switched to their favourite one, Kahitna. This young lady was telling her friend how she wished Kahitna would sing at her wedding party. At that time, this was just a wish upon a star for both of them....

Years gone by......It was then November 2006 and the young lady was getting ready for her big day. She just could not believe that she was going to be a Mrs. Somebody in a few hours. She checked everything...A beautiful dress, a gorgeous make-up, beloved family and friends on her sides, and of course her lovely husband-to-be waiting for her downstairs...All checked. It was everything that she’s ever dreamed of her wedding day would be. On top of it all, she was going to see Kahitna that same night, singing at the reception. Could that be really true? She was just too nervous that morning; she just let it slide.

A few hours passed by and it was afternoon already. The young lady was married and now preparing herself for the grand reception. She was just talking to her husband when she heard something from the big room, a song that she was so familiar with. But why did the band keep repeating it as if they were practising? She then curiously went to the big room and was so surprised to see who were actually there. All kahitna members were there, doing a rehearsal. In the end, she just stood there, speechless.

It was 7.45 pm when she heard the M.C calling for Kahitna. At the moment she heard the intro of “Cerita Cinta”, she just could not concentrate anymore. She wished she was down there instead of standing at the newly-wed stage. She wanted to sing out loud, but she just had to behave gracefully like a Queen of Java should do. After all, that who she was after all for that day, the queen of the day. So she did what she had to do. She waved gracefully when the band wished her and her husband a happy and long life together. She waved again when the band played her favourite song of all time “Setahun Kemarin”.

Finally, after what seems to be like a minute or so, the band finished their performance and heading to congratulate the bride and groom. They then took a picture together. A picture that she knew she would keep forever. A moment that she would cherish for the rest of her life...Thank you so much Kahitna...for making my wedding day to be UNFORGETTABLE indeed...
